rites of renewal - in kinship WITH earth

Nature Printing Workshop
Sunday, April 26th, 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm

Immerse yourself in Rites of Renewal: Kinship With Earth with artist Elizabeth Murray at her exhibition in the Marjorie Evans Gallery, then create your own nature prints with Elizabeth on the patio. Participants will print from tree rounds, leaves, and feathers to create original pieces to take home.

Each wood round has been carefully collected, sanded, burned, and wire brushed so the winter growth rings rise to the surface. Using ink and your hands, you will create a striking impression while observing the story held within the rings. You can count a tree's age and reflect on its health, the weather it endured, and its species. Trees serve as witnesses, sometimes for hundreds or even thousands of years. As you print, you may find yourself reflecting on your own life's rings and the legacy you hope to leave.

• The exhibition Rites of Renewal: Kinship With Earth runs March 3 through April 30.
• Opening reception: March 20 from 5 pm to 7 pm.
• Special artist walkthroughs are available by appointment at emurray@elizabethmurray.com.

The workshop fee is $20 per person. Participation is limited to ticket holders for Live on Our Planet. You must have a ticket to the performance in order to attend the workshop.
