Monet's Passion: The Gardens at Giverny Boxed Notecards
As soon as the great Impressionist painter Claude Monet (French, 1840-1926) bought a house and garden in Giverny, a small Norman village on the Seine not far from Paris, he set himself to the task of giving nature everything she needed to produce an abundance of brilliant blooms and greenery throughout the extensive grounds, which included his famous lily pond. Renowned in Monet's lifetime, the extraordinary gardens grew shabby and sad after his death. Photographer and expert gardener Elizabeth Murray helped to restore the Giverny gardens—which have been open to the public since 1980—and she returns annually to capture Monet's passion at its most radiant and riotous. A description accompanies each of the four photographs in this notecard selection. Twenty 5 x 7 in. blank note cards (5 each of 4 styles) with envelopes and decorative box. Creating Sacred Space: Gardening for the Soul
Gardening can be a portal to the sacred in our everyday lives. They can connect us intimately with nature, beauty, ritual and wonder. Our personal environments can provide spiritual well being and nurture for the soul. In Cultivating Sacred Space: Gardening for the Soul, author and photographer Elizabeth Murray encourages us to transform our own private gardens into places that satisfy our need for the sacred, as a personal sanctuary for play, meditation and for connecting with the earth.
"Cultivating Sacred Space is an extraordinary book. Seldom do we find a book that lives its title or 'walks its talk.' This book motivates the reader to manifest the soul's garden in daily life. Elizabeth Murray reminds us that God is alive and magic is afoot, and re-enchants us to return home internally and externally to our sacred garden." —Angeles Arrien, Ph.D., author of The Four Fold Way and The Second Half of Life
